This month Ruby passed her Caring Canine Assessment. Quite an event and I have to confess to feeling very nervous when we were asked to meet Sue at the Cafe Riva in Southbourne. Quite a small cafe for such a large wagging tail.
Despite my reservations Ruby was very excited and happy to be out for an extra trip as we headed for Southbourne. We found Sue from Caring Canines waiting outside. In we went and thankfully found a table a little bit out of the way. We passed lots of people and a dog on the way to our table and Ruby, star that she is didn't bat a tail wagg!
We passed with flying colours, Ruby wasn't bothered when Sue dropped her keys on the floor or when a man behind us gave the most enormous sneeze, which made me jump. She was happy to be handled and took treats gently. Not sure where I found this angelic dog who is normally off the planet with happiness.
So onwards and upwards this Wednesday we did our first official Caring Canine engagement at the Juniper Centre for young adults with learning issues. Once again I was really nervous, Ruby just happy to be out on a ride in the car. Sue once again met us. Glad she was there as I had no idea where to go and parking was a bit tricky. But armed with Ruby, my Caring Canines T Shirt and identification tag we arrived.
The Students were so excited when we went in and I was concerned as to how Ruby would cope. But she was amazing an absolute star. She was happy to be stroked, paid attention to me all the time, shook hands, rested her chin on hands and then went on to show how clever she was with some funstuff she can do. Finally joy of joy i got her ball out and she gave it to just about everyone so they could throw it for her again and again. Joy all round. She also demonstrated how much she likes to sit on a chair.
This led to lots of the students wanting a photo of her sitting next them. Sadly I am unable to share those photos at this time but be assured she gave lots of pleasure to lots of people, me included, and had a great time herself.
Her very proud MUM
